PUSH TO MAKE HIGH SCHOOL LACROSSE A VHSL SPORT
Supporters are urging school boards to make local high school lacrosse an official VHSL sport.
Currently, lacrosse teams at local high schools are only club teams.
Club status means teams lack official recognition and can’t compete for state championships.
Parents and players stated this limits opportunities for college scholarships and recruitment.
The effort to make lacrosse official in York County has been ongoing since 2007.
Players feel their dedication is overlooked because the team is just a club.
Becoming VHSL sanctioned would create more college playing opportunities for athletes.
Supporters are encouraged to speak at upcoming school board meetings in both counties.
