    Bill payments in Williamsburg can be made via dropbox or online, but payments on July 4th will post July 7th.

    Drive Safe Hampton Roads is offering 757 Sober Rides via Lyft for the July Fourth holiday weekend.

    The program provides no-cost rides up to $15 for individuals 21 and older celebrating with alcohol or drugs.

    Users need the Lyft app and a daily promo code found at drivesafehr.org/757-sober-ride.

    Codes are posted daily at 3 p.m. and are valid for specific overnight sessions from July 3rd through July 6th.

    Rides must originate from or have a destination within Hampton Roads and are available while supplies last.

    The service aims to prevent impaired driving, which contributes to a high number of crashes, injuries, and deaths over the holiday.

The celebration began June 14 at Freedom Park with a community fest featuring vendors, tours, skits, and dance performances, sponsored by the local NAACP chapter and James City County. Event organizers noted the fest fostered a stronger sense of community and cohesiveness. U.S. News & World Report recognized Williamsburg’s celebrations among the nation’s top Juneteenth events. Thursday in Colonial Williamsburg featured a groundbreaking for the African Baptist Meeting House and the opening of the restored Williamsburg Bray School. The Village Initiative hosted a large Juneteenth Freedom Celebration parade and party in downtown Williamsburg attended by over 1,000 people with entertainment and vendors. Final events at the Stryker Center include today’s art exhibition reception and Saturday’s 4th Annual Journey to Racial Healing ceremony, featuring speakers discussing historical ties to slavery. These Juneteenth events aim to build community, foster dialogue, and help people learn a fuller American history.

  • Healing Event June 21: Speakers on Bush slavery link & slave owner ties

    FOURTH ANNUAL JOURNEY TO RACIAL HEALING EVENT

    Williamsburg will host its 4th annual Journey to Racial Healing event on June 21.
    The event features two speakers, one Black and one white, discussing their ties to slavery.
    Speaker Charles Holman, a lawyer and genealogist, discovered his ancestors were enslaved by the ancestors of former Presidents Bush.
    Holman has a distinguished legal career, including civil rights work.
    Speaker Bill Sizemore, a retired journalist, found his ancestors enslaved people and has connected with descendants.
    The event, sponsored by the Virginia Racial Healing Institute and others, is free but requires registration.
    It includes refreshments and a Juneteenth art exhibit.

  • Williamsburg’s Noah Katz Umpires Savannah Bananas in Richmond This Weekend

    WILLIAMSBURG NATIVE UMPIRES WITH SAVANNAH BANANAS

    Williamsburg resident Noah Katz is umpiring for the Savannah Bananas thanks to his successful YouTube channel.

    His channel, “The Umpire Channel,” educates aspiring umpires and has over 370,000 subscribers.

    This weekend, he is umpiring the Bananas series in Richmond, which is a special “bucket list” moment for him near his hometown.

    Katz travels weekly, umpiring with the Bananas at major stadiums and filming content with sports officials.

    He recently won $3,750 in a business pitch competition, which will fund new equipment for his channel.

    Katz, a rising senior in college, plans to make The Umpire Channel his full-time career after graduating in 2026.

    Williamsburg Live summer concert series is this weekend at the Colonial Williamsburg Art Museum.
    Shuttle services are available from the Visitors Center via Oleta and CW buses.
    Parking at the Visitors Center costs $10.
    Outside food and drinks are prohibited, but one sealed water bottle per person is allowed.
    Food trucks will be on-site for purchasing food and drinks.
    Alcohol purchase requires an age-verified wristband with valid ID.
    Children under 13 must be with a parent/guardian and need a ticket; no babies in arms are permitted.
    Smoking is only allowed in designated areas.
    Lawn seating is first-come, first-served; blankets and low chairs are permitted.
    All guests and bags are subject to search upon entry.
    The event is rain or shine but may delay for severe storms.

    In case of evacuation, patrons must leave the grounds and seek safe shelter.
