U.S. Sen. Mark Warner discussed affordable housing needs and potential solutions at a community roundtable in Williamsburg on Thursday. Warner proposed ideas including simplifying historic tax credits, incentivizing renovation of blighted homes, supporting first-generation homebuyers, and encouraging building near religious properties. Over 40 local leaders attended to hear Warner’s ideas on increasing housing supply and helping homeowners. Participants also discussed negative perceptions associated with the term “affordable housing.”
